Jennifer,
Thank you for touching-base.

I have done a bit more research over the telephone with Bill Dunn of Griffin, GA.  He is much more closely related to Doc than I am, and he has a museum in Griffin dedicated to Doc and the Wild West.
I will share his info with you this Friday when I have more time.

I regret not being able to attend the ADA this year.

This is great! Would it be possible to speak next week? I am so sorry I had to leave for a noon appointment today but I’d definitely like to talk. OR you can answer these questions by email:

Did you always know of the family connection?

Do you find yourself correcting people a lot about the use of the unauthenticated photo?

Is there a Holliday family reunion?

Any other dentists in the Holliday family over the years?

Thank you!

Jennifer,

I ran one of my political campaigns using this (attached) image.  The image is a synthesis of my face with 1870s clothing like that worn by Doc.  The image was created in pen and ink by an artist friend, the late Joy Hulgan, who was also my patient.

In 2012, I was listed on the ballot and elected as "Lindsay 'Doc' Holliday" to serve as on the Ocmulgee River District, Ga Soil and Water Commission.

It won't take long. I would love to hear –if you'd like to share—about present day interest from your patients about your ties to this part of history. Do you yourself go by Dr. or 'Doc' at work, that sort of thing.

Thank you for your time!

-Flesh-out Doc's personality best done by Mary Russell (same persona as re-created by Val Kilmer in Tombstone)in her 2011 book "Doc: A Novel"  The book includes narrative description of historically accurate dental techniques probably used by Doc in the 1870-80s.

Ok.
I will be available in another hour or two.
I'm not sure I can add much more than the additional documents attached from two books published in 2004 and 1998.
Thank-you,

Hi Dr. Holliday: thanks for your quick response.

By this email, I would like to introduce you to Jennifer Garvin, the Washington Editor for the ADA News. If you agree, she'd like to interview you ou for an ADA News feature story that can include the historical references you'd like to share and showcase e the correct photo in print and online. The ADA Morning Huddle can then summarize the ADA News story in the editorial portion of an upcoming issue.

We hope this plan is agreeable to you. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. You are in good hands with Jennifer! I will let her continue this correspondence.

Sincerely,
Stacie

Stacie,
Thank you very much for your interest in getting the ADA story straight.

I am not a direct descendant of Doc, but a very distant cousin who shares his birth state, his surname and his profession.

Yes, the photo is the one that his closest surviving relatives released some years ago.

I plan to email you more historical references before I call. Friday (at the earliest) might be a convenient time for me to talk.
Thanks again,
- Lindsay

Hello Dr. Holliday: thanks so much for letting us know about the incorrect photo of your famous ancestor that appeared in ADA Morning Huddle. We apologize for the error and certainly want to show our members the correct photo and maybe offer a couple of facts about him provided by his family.

Would you be willing to speak to me in the next few days to get more information for the correction? If so, please let me know your preferred phone number and best time to reach you?

And to verify, is this the correct photo pasted below?

Thank you, again, for bringing this to our attention.

Dear Sirs;

The [fake] photo of "Doc Holliday" published in today's "ADA Morning Huddle" is known to be erroneous.

I would appreciate it if ADA Morning Huddle would publish a correct photograph of Dr John Henry Holliday.  The correct image is in the public realm as a courtesy from his surviving relatives in Georgia.

Please see the correct image and documented research here:

Thank-you,
- Lindsay "Doc" Holliday
